چکیده
ABI3 (ABSCISIC ACID INSENSITIVE 3) is a family of B3 transcription factors essential for regulating the abscisic acid (ABA) signaling pathway involved in various biological processes and abiotic stress. Our previous studies demonstrated that ectopic expression ScABI3 from desiccation-tolerant moss (Syntrichia caninervis) into Arabidopsis thaliana enhanced stress tolerance. However, on plant transformation using gene are limited other possible functions not known. Here, we transformed alfalfa (Medicago sativa L.) analyzed effects phenotype, photosynthetic efficiency, nutritional quality. The results showed endogenous ABA content transgenic plants was significantly higher than WT, leaf-stem ratio, leaf area, branch number increased with overexpression alfalfa. Further analysis gas exchange parameters net rate (Pn), stomatal conductance (Gs), transpiration (Tr), water-use efficiency (WUE) were WT; meanwhile, protein lines but crude fat lower. Thus, these findings suggest can be used as potential candidate to manipulate alfalfa’s growth This study will provide theoretical basis breeding varieties assist forage production animal husbandry future.

Impacts of the removal of shrubs on the physiological and biochemical characteristics of Syntrichia caninervis Mitt: in a temperate desert
Moss crusts play important roles in biological soil crusts biomass and soil surface stabilization. However, because of increasingly intensive human activities, especially grazing, the growth and survival of shrubs are seriously threatened. This study aimed to test whether the presence of shrubs affects the physiological state of the bryophyte Syntrichia caninervis Mitt. in this desert ecosystem...
متن کاملCultivation of Alfalfa (medicago Sativa L)
Madicago sativa Linn, commonly known as 'Alfalfa', is a tonic plant rich in proteins, minerals, enzymes and vitamins, Bulk quantity of the whole plant is required in the pharmaceutical industries especially in homoecopathic pharmacies, Hence, there is a great need to cultivate this plant for sustained supply of the drug. Use of good and adequate phosphatecontaining farm yard manure, timely irri...
متن کاملBeta-Amylases from Alfalfa (Medicago sativa L.) Roots.
Amylase was found in high activity (193 international units per milligram protein) in the tap root of alfalfa (Medicago sativa L. cv. Sonora). The activity was separated by gel filtration chromatography into two fractions with molecular weights of 65,700 (heavy amylase) and 41,700 (light amylase). Activity staining of electrophoretic gels indicated the presence of one isozyme in the heavy amyla...
متن کاملAbstract Withholding alfalfa (Medicago sativa L.) irri-
Withholding alfalfa (Medicago sativa L.) irrigations during the summer, a practice referred to as summer irrigation termination (SIT), can conserve substantial amounts of water in long-season desert environments; however, plant mortality associated with SIT may be substantial. Proper timing of re-irrigation is critical for minimizing mortality and yield reductions following SIT. Procedures that...
متن کاملIncrease phosphorus availability from the use of alfalfa (Medicago sativa L) green manure in rice (Oryza sativa L.) agroecosystem
Alfalfa is a good green manure source, but its effect on rice growth has not been fully elucidated. Two green manure species, alfalfa and broad bean (Vicia faba L.), and two N fertilizer levels, alone or combination, were applied to a rice field. The results indicated that alfalfa had more pronounced effects on increasing soil labile phosphorus (P) fractions (including NaHCO3-Pi, NaOH-Pi), P up...
